About Me
My journey into psychiatry is woven with diverse experiences that have shaped my approach to mental health. As an immigrant, the initial struggles of navigating a new language and culture became pivotal stepping stones toward embracing different languages and cultures. This transformative phase drove me to the University of California, Berkeley, where I pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Integrative Biology and a minor in Southeast Asian Studies. After graduation, I volunteered at the non-profit organization Gram Seva Trust in India where I educated expecting mothers about prenatal care and explored the personal, social, and economic factors contributing to alcohol addiction in communities.
Motivated by these impactful experiences, my medical journey commenced at the University of South Florida, where I chose to specialize in a Scholarly Concentration in Nutrition. This academic pursuit significantly deepened my understanding of the critical role nutrition plays in mental health. I also actively contributed to research, particularly in evidence-based approaches to posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
The profound interconnection between physical and mental health became increasingly evident, solidifying my commitment to integrative psychiatry. At my residency in psychiatry at HCA Florida Aventura Hospital, I developed a comprehensive wellness curriculum, teaching topics such as nutrition, sleep, exercise, and burnout prevention.
In my psychiatry practice, I draw on the depth of my diverse experiences to create a welcoming and empathetic space for individuals from various backgrounds. My commitment to integrative psychiatry is not merely professional; it is deeply personal, reflecting a holistic understanding of the human experience and an unwavering dedication to helping others navigate their unique paths to well-being.

To find out for sure, I would recommend calling the number on the back of your card and asking: Do I have out of network coverage for psychiatry? If so, is there a deductible? If there's a deductible, have I met it? What percentage of fees will be covered? What is the allowable amount for codes 99204, 99205, 99213, 99214, 90833, 90836, 90838, 90785, 99217?

At Craft Psychiatry, I employ a comprehensive approach that goes beyond symptom management, emphasizing the cultivation of a resilient mindset, fostering a positive environment, building robust support systems, and promoting healthy habits. My practice involves the integration of medications with supplements, therapy, and lifestyle adjustments, all aimed at optimizing your overall well-being.
-
I believe in collaborative care. Your opinions and preferences are important, and we work together to ensure that your treatment plan aligns with your individual goals and values.
-
Not at all. I am not anti-medication. When I think medication could help, I’ll tell you, and I’ll talk through the pros and cons. I am here to give you the information you need to make your own choices, aligned with your values. I support what works for each person to flourish, and I have no preconceived judgments about what that needs to be.
-
Yes, I can help people who want to stop their medications, reduce their dose, or simplify their medication regimen. If I think it will do more harm than good, I’ll explain why. But many times it's a good option to consider, especially when there may be questions about the validity of the original diagnosis, when the current medication isn't helping enough, and when there may be other approaches that can decrease the need for medications over the long run.
-
Yes, if all of these conditions are met: I think the medication is appropriate for you, you use it as prescribed and we meet in person at least once.
-
Most appointments are conveniently kept online using a secure video platform connected to the patient portal. In some situations (like if we’re using any controlled substances) it’s necessary to meet in person periodically, but for most it’s not required.
-
I exclusively work with clients that are 15+ years old.
-
I do not offer a sliding scale or discounted rates. My fees are the same for all clients.
-
At Craft Psychiatry, I prioritize the confidentiality and privacy of my clients. I adhere to strict ethical and legal standards to safeguard your personal information. Our safe and supportive environment is designed to provide you with the utmost privacy.
-
No, at this time I don’t offer psychedelic-assisted therapy. Psychedelic-assisted therapy involves a therapist being present with someone during a psychedelic experience, usually with preparation sessions ahead of the experience and integration therapy sessions afterward. There is promising research happening with psychedelics for a variety of mental health conditions, but this is still not ready for use in regular practice. I am able to support you with integration therapy for prior psychedelic experiences you may have had, but we don’t give referrals for psychedelic experiences and we don’t recommend them outside of an FDA-approved research setting.
-
I accept clients anywhere in Florida.
